Avian flu (also known as H5N1) is still a serious problem throughout the world. Intermittent outbreaks crop up from time to time in countries ranging from Cambodia to the United States. Obviously, it is a situation that health advisors and governments take very seriously. Global efforts to eradicate avian flu have been moderately successful over the past several months, but to date, it still exists in many parts of the world.

What Precautions Should You Take?

Realistically, there is only so much that you can do to limit your exposure. Obviously, don't handle wild birds, animals that exhibit suspicious symptoms, or raw meat.
